When taking care of a sick child sometimes there is lots of traveling back and forth from the Children’s hospital in London to Sick Kids in Toronto and if you live in Windsor these trips can be very expensive with the cost of hotel rooms and transportation. The TLC Foundation believes in trying to make life a little easier for families who have the enormous responsibility of taking care of a sick child. To make things easier for Serina and her family the TLC Foundation helped with some of the expenses for their trip to Sick Kids in Toronto. Children and parents have enough to worry about when battling an illness. For the majority of people who see this video they just see a boy in a red shirt riding around in circles, no big deal. What the TLC Foundation sees in this video is a lot more and it brings tears to our eyes. We see a boy having fun, being free, escaping from his every day world of sitting in a hospital bed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We see a boy who has to fight everyday of his life to beat this terrible disease. We see a boy who is scared and has to endure so much, more than any kid should have to. We see a boy that can finally be a kid, finally can do many things that most of us take for granted. We see a boy with big smiles on his face, something that’s hard to come by these days. Andrew has been in the hospital for months, he is not able to leave his room, not able to go outside for a walk. When I found out the Andrew was cleared to leave the hospital for a few days I couldn’t resist but to send him to a resort so that he could have some quality time and fun with his family and at the same time ensure his health would not be compromised. From some of the videos and pictures I have received it looks like he and his family are having a great time playing outside and enjoying the resorts amenities. When Andrews little get away is over he will once again be spending months in a hospital room , trying to battle this terrible disease.
