Today I said goodbye to my little Buddy Max. It was very heartwarming to see the hundreds of people who came out to honour Max. In Max’s 2 years on earth he made a huge impact on everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. Max’s passing has certainly taught me something. It taught me that I can never give up no matter how difficult it can be to sometimes put smiles on children’s faces. Max fought every day of his life but rarely did he show it, he would give you a smile no matter how bad he was feeling. Max was someone very special, the effect he had on this world will be felt for many years. I send prayers and strength to Jamie and Kevin and the rest of the family as they deal with the loss of their son. I hope they get some comfort in knowing that there is a huge community out there that will be there for them in this most difficult time in their lives. In loving memory of an amazing boy Max who was a true hero to all of us. May you Rest in...

On our trip to Las Vegas the TLC Foundation made arrangements for Carter and his family to attend a Criss Angel show. Upon hearing that Carter was battling cancer Criss invited Carter backstage after the show. A special friendship was struck between Carter and Criss that fateful day. Upon hearing that Carter lived in Ontario, Criss invited all of us to his show at Caesars Windsor . After the show we met with Criss backstage where Criss showed all of us what an amazing individual he was. Criss personally thanked Carter for attending his show and spend some time talking to all of us. The TLC Foundation presented Criss with a Bad Hair Day hat. Upon hearing the significance of the hat Criss stated that he would wear the hat often to show his support for Sophia who passed away 5 years to the day. To be able to present Criss Sophia’s hat on the 5th anniversary of her passing was special to say the least. A huge thank you to Yvette of Criss Angels office. Yvette made the Las Vegas meet and greet happen by taking the time to let Criss know all about Carter. I sometimes wonder how a small town , no name charity like the TLC Foundation can make some amazing things happen for these deserving kids!!! I guess I’m getting a lot of help from the big guy...

When I received a call from a mother who was …

When I received a call from a mother who was telling me that she was upset and crying after receiving some disappointing news about her sons condition I couldn’t help but drive to the parking lot where she was to lend some support . The mother was from out of town and had spent the morning at the hospital with her kids and would be spending the night as her son needed to have more tests the next day. I was questioning why was she in a parking lot near the hospital with her kids and not in the comfort of the hotel room that was arranged for her. When she told me the answer I immediately went into action and booked her a different hotel, one that was very accommodating and understanding. The reason why she was in a parking lot was that she went to the hotel that was arranged for her but was told she couldn’t check in until after 3 pm. The hotel certainly would have known why she was booked a room so I’m not sure why they didn’t try to accommodate her. The mother didn’t have anywhere to go or do but sit in a parking lot until her room was ready so the TLC Foundation did what it had to do to help the situation and got her a hotel room that she could get in right away. Its certainly not easy to travel to London with two kids, spend the morning in the hospital then go to the hotel to get settled but be told to come back hours later because check in isn’t until 3 pm. Sometimes what seems trivial to one person means the world to someone else. Spending 10 minutes in a car with your children can sometimes be challenging now imagine if you had to do it for hours but this time your kids haven’t eaten, been in the hospital all morning having tests and are getting tired and inpatient and are not healthy to begin with, not sure if any parent could do that without breaking...

The TLC Foundation had the real pleasure of meeting Alyssa today thanks to someone who felt that she could use some cheering up and asked if I would pay her a visit. To make her hospital stay a little easier the TLC Foundation brought Alyssa a gift that would sure to keep her busy and take away some of the boredom that happens when spending lots of time in the hospital. I wish I could have captured a picture of her face when she opened up the gift, it was truly heartwarming to see the expression on her face. When people ask me why the TLC Foundation does what it does for these kids, just look at the smile on Alyssa’s face, that will explain everything!!! I will continue to put smiles on a Alyssa’s face. I already have things in place that will sure to bring her some more big...
