I am truly amazed by all the acts of kindness that …

I am truly amazed by all the acts of kindness that the TLC Foundation experiences on a yearly basis. People reaching out doing some amazing things all because they want to help others in need. I recently received a call from a lady that wanted to make a donation to the TLC Foundation , she heard me on the radio talking about what the TLC Foundation does and she wanted to help. I met this lady at a coffee shop near Santa’s house with a friend of hers and I must say I immediately felt that this lady was something special. It wasn’t until I met her that I realized the reason why she couldn’t meet me at Santa’s house . Mihaiela lost her husband to cancer 3 years ago and a few months later was in a very bad car accident. Mihaiela has difficulty get around and is still mending from the accident but she took the time to come to me to ensure I receive her very generous donation and some other gifts for children. Mihaiela reminded me of my mother someone who has a very big heart and a very deep caring for others and would give everything they have to help others. Mihaiela told me to keep on putting smiles on the children’s faces but that day she put a big smile on...

There are times when I don’t realize the real …

There are times when I don’t realize the real impact the TLC Foundation has on children and their families. It’s times like this that send me a message and that message is to never give up assisting children no matter what hurdles are put in our way!!!! I recently received a message from a mother who informed me that their daughter, Georgia who I had the pleasure of meeting recently passed away. I remember meeting this beautiful little girl and seeing the smiles on her face when she opened the gift we had brought her, I remember it like it was yesterday. The family would like to make a donation to the TLC Foundation in memory of their daughter. The mother wanted to let me know that the family wants to use the funds that were going to be used to buy Georgia Christmas presents be used to purchase gifts for children that will be in the hospital on Christmas Eve. Every Child that is in the hospital on Christmas Eve will be granted a Christmas wish by the TLC Foundation and this year we will grant those wishes in Georgia’s memory. I send prayers and love to Georgia’s family during this very difficult time. I hope they get some comfort in knowing that because of their love and caring for others the TLC Foundation will do it’s best to put smiles on the faces of children that need a little lift this Christmas Eve, all in memory of Georgia. Rest in Peace Georgia, you will always be loved and will never be...

Kathryn is an amazing little girl who has been through a lot these past few weeks. Spending time at the hospital at any time of the year is not fun but at Christmas time it’s even more difficult. To spread some cheer and brighten up Kathryn’s day the TLC Foundation sent some of Santa’s helpers to decorate her hospital room. Thank you , Ellie, Venessa, Jamie and of course little Lucas for taking the time to decorate Kathryn’s room. Putting smiles on the faces of these amazing kids is what the TLC Foundation is all about, it warms our hearts to see the kids smile when smiles are sometimes hard to come...

20 years ago today I lost my amazing mother. My …

20 years ago today I lost my amazing mother. My mother meant the world to me, she was truly an Angel that had a heart of gold. A few years ago I posted this story on how the TLC became what it is today. In memory of my mother I would like to share it with you again, it’s because of her that hundreds of children are cared for every year by the TLC Foundation, she was the best teacher in the entire world!!! A lot of people ask me how the TLC Foundation started and why. It was my mother’s teachings as a young boy that inspired me to help others. There are many examples that I can give but there is one that made me realize how wonderful a person my mother really was…a true angel. We grew up in a world of poverty, at many times needing the assistance of organizations to just put food on the table. When I was 8 or 9 years old my mother asked me to take a walk with her to visit an elderly lady that lived a few blocks from our house. When we arrived my mother handed the lady a gift and when the lady opened it she was very thankful, tears ran down her face . I was very upset with my mother for giving this lady this gift because I had realized that the gift she gave away was a birthday present that she received a few weeks earlier from a family friend. I could not understand why she would give things away when we were also the ones in need. I questioned her on this and she looked at me with a smile on her face and said don’t worry about why I gave my present away I did what I had to do. It did not take me long to figure that my mom was happy when she could help others and just because you don’t have the resources there are other ways to give. She gave her birthday present to help someone and to her that was more important than keeping the gift. When I was in my teens I began following in my mother’s footsteps, I had no money to help others but I had the passion and with that I began to fundraise and help kids in need at Christmas. In my first year, I raised a few hundred dollars and collected a few toys and sponsored 3 families at Christmas. Today we don’t just help kids at Christmas but all year long. For many years, TLC operated under the radar. Every time I delivered gifts at the hospital or to homes in London on Christmas Eve, people would ask for my name but I refused to give it to them, I felt that it was important for me to not be known, I just wanted to help kids without the thank yous. That all changed the day my mother passed away. On December 9, 1998 my mother passed away suddenly without any warning at the young age of 69. I was the last family member to see her alive. That afternoon I went and paid her a visit, I remember her waving goodbye to me, two hours later she was...

My friend Ceazon dropped by Santa’s House to say hello and have lunch with me at Joe Kools but his real reason to see me was to give me a gift. My heart was filled with joy when I opened the gift. Ceazon and his mother Karen made me this beautiful quilt and personalized it. I was filled with emotions when I received this amazing gift. The fact that Ceazon thought of me and went out of his way just warms my heart. All the children I meet are truly amazing, they are all my heroes and fill my heart with...
